#95 Meeting

Hello, everyone! Our #95 meeting was held on October 6th via Zoom with 14 members and 3 guests from USA, Singapore and Tokyo, Japan.

In Japan, people say that fall is the best season to have a good appetite since there are so many seasonal foods. So this time the meeting theme was set to FOOD. The meeting started with a Small Talk Session where everyone shared food story, for example olive oil flavored with herbs and garlic, fresh squid and cod fish, persimmon, hot pot (鍋, Nabe), Oden (おでん), BBQ and outdoor cooking.

In keeping with the meeting theme, Word of the Day was set to GARNER.

Before Prepared Speech Session, we held induction ceremony. It included mentors introduction, their words to new members, new members' oath, club's pledge and new members' words. The ceremony went smoothly and we could welcome new members with heart-warming atmosphere.

In Prepared Speech Session, 1st Speaker, TM Kimiko, shared the proverb “Ishigame no Jidanda (石亀の地団駄)”. The proverb itself has a harsh lesson, but her speech message was encouraging. And 2nd speaker, TM Edward, introduced us to some birthday rules specific to Japan, the Philippines and Germany. It were so surprising and interesting!!

In Table Topic Speech Session, the following 7 topics were asked related to today’s meeting theme.

・If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would that be?

・What is your opinion on fast food?

・What is your comfort food?

・If you could choose two famous people to have dinner with, who would they be?

・If you take your girlfriend out to dinner, what kind of restaurant would you choose?

・What was the least favorite food as a child? Do you still hate it or love it now?

・Do you try to buy locally produced foods or the cheapest ones?

After all sessions, the best Table Topic Speaker went to our guest, TM Denis. There were two speaker this time, so we did not vote for the Best Evaluator.

We had a great time today with a diverse participants as always. Looking forward to seeing you next time, on October 20th!
