Hi there, thank you for visiting our blog!
We are an online Toastmasters club based in Japan. If you are interested in brushing up your public speaking skills, come check us out! Our meetings are on the first and the third Wednesday 21:00-22:20.
We had another fun and intriguing meeting tonight! I truly felt a "spring breeze" all the way from Japan, thanks to the members who shared stunning photos of cherry blossoms. The Sakura was beautiful, of course, but we certainly have some talented photographers in our group!
Our main event was a debate: "Should paper books be completely replaced by digital ones?" The Affirmative side highlighted environmental benefits, the convenience, and helpful digital functions like adjustable font sizes and audio features. On the other hand, the Negative side of the speaker stressed the irreplaceable value of physical books, which engage our emotions and all five senses.
In the Table Topics session, we took a nostalgic journey of seeking memories of using traditional communication methods like handwritten letters, landline phones, and word processors.
Overall, It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far technology has come and where it’s headed. Times are truly changing!
In the end of the meeting, we decided to organize our meeting more efficiently. In our next meeting, we tentatively shorten the meeting time slightly from 80 minutes to 70 minutes.
Thank you to everyone who joined the meeting! Let's have an even more robust and efficient meeting next time.
