We are an online Toastmasters club based in Japan. Anyone who is interested in visiting our club, just send us a message. Our members will welcome you with open arms, and excited to listen to your story!
So it was our 167th meeting. The toastmaster of the day started off the meeting mentioning the disaster in Noto where one of our members live. She wished the quick reconstruction of the area where the big earthquake hit in the beginning of this year, and again had a heavy rain and mudslides.
Then we headed to our favorite small talk session. There were interesting talks about working in a new environment, traveling back from Italy, planning a trip to a different part of Japan, sharing an old photo with the plititian who is now our prime minister, sharing a story with a teacher from South Africa, and introducing the sake brewery (Miyoshigiku 三芳菊) that the member's family is running. I talked about how much I've been enjoying cooking and eating fresh local vegetables. Since the harvesting is getting closer to end where I live. I want to enjoy the fresh veggies as much as possible before the snow!
Then we had our speech session. The only speaker for the meeting gave us a brief introduction of 9 female presidents for the Toastmasters International. We learned about how each of them put their effort to make the organization better and the gender does not affect their performance. It was such an encouraging speech to us, female members!
At our table topicks session, the theme was "The fashion week". As a table topics master, I introduced the trends for this fall and winter, and let each member talk about a specific trend . It was interesting to learn what they captured by looking at a photo of the models.
The word of the day was "exuberent" and several members used it. It is an uplifting word! I'll incorporate the word in my daily vocabulary! If you are interested in visiting our club, please do so! We will show you how exuberant our meeting is!!
