We had a debate session today with the proposition "Elderly people should give up driving and return their driver's license." In Japan, the fatal car accidents caused by elderly drivers have been always widely covered by the media raising questions if they should give up driving.
Both speakers on the affirmative and negative sides tuckled the issue providing the audience their insight with data and analysis. Even though the affirmative speaker was farily new to the toastmasters, she did a great job delivering her point of view against the very experienced member. Since the topic was relevant to most of us, it gave us an opportunity to sit down and think it over.
The winter theme table topics speeches were fun to listen to. Everyone has an interesting story about winter experience.
The word of the day "stupendous"was heard quite a few times throughout the meeting. What a stupendous choice of the word, Ms. Grammarian!
