Ginza! September 17th, 2017
Ginza News Letters (17th September) Introduction It was another entertaining afternoon of prepared speech and workshops on Sunday 17th September at Harumi-Kumin Center where Ginza TMC held their latest regular meeting. It was our pleasure to have three visiting guests and look forward to meeting you again! Let us help you along your Toastmasters journey. Roles and the Word of Day The meeting started with a welcome speech from the President Drian who introduced the special guests, TM Toru, TM Rieko and TM Rio. He introduced Toastmaster Yuko who then introduced Timekeeper, TM Rio and announced the Word of Day. The Word of Today was "brook", which means “to be patient, bear or tolerate”. Song of the Day The presenter of Songs of the Day was Yossy. It was “You Are My Sunshine” by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell in 1939. Yossy did great because the song was parodied as "We Are Toastmasters”. Prepared Speech The special speaker was TM Yuki, Technical Presentation #1 (Technical Briefing), "The Minto Pyramid Principle". It has been designed as an aid to the logical presentation of business communications, and he talked us through pictures to show us how great pyramid principle to communicate our ideas clearly and succinctly. 1st Workshop The first Workshop was TM Paul. His project was “Diversity Empathy Leadership". With literally hundreds of definitions of what Diversity is, how it should be defined? His analysis reminded us that backing to solve diversity, diversity today is not what it used to be. His “privilege” exercise, including gender or nationality, was literally an eye-opener to us. 2nd Workshop TM Yossy was the second Workshop presenter. The topic was "Look forward to your future". He helped us to make our dreams real, and to use tall tale speeches in life with easy steps. It was wonderful to share our “big dreams” in the end. 3rd Workshop After the break, TM Drian was the last Workshop presenter. The topic was “Confidence”. He examined how to get confidence back and how to avoid losing confidence again. We learned that enough preparation, visualization, or even ignorance was very effective. Evaluation We heard from the special evaluator– TM Toru for TM Yuki. Finally, our visiting General Evaluator, TM Rieko evaluated our club and the meeting. Toastmaster Yuko then handed it over to our President Drian who gave us a brief of summary of all sessions and closed the meeting. Next meeting The next meeting will take place at Harumi-Kumin Center, on Sunday, 22th October, at 14:00. Come over to practice your public speaking skills and enjoy the meeting!
