Ginza News Letters (20th August) Our 1st anniversary meeting of August were excellent table topics, speeches and workshops by the five members. We were also delighted to have six visiting guests and look forward to meeting you again! Let us help you along your Toastmasters journey! Introduction On Sunday, 20th August, Ginza Toastmasters had our Ginza 1st Anniversary meeting at AKASAKA-Kumin Cener. We heard some wonderful speeches from the Club members, enjoyed an entertaining Table Topics session with Club’s guests, and enjoyed outstanding Workshops. Roles and the Word of Day The meeting started with a welcome speech from the President Drian who introduced the special guests, TM Harumi, TM Hiromi, TM Masa, TM Tomomi TM Yasuhito and TM Tomoo. He introduced Toastmaster Yuki who then introduced Timekeeper, Yasuhito and Yuko to announce the Word of Day. Yuko chose "Malleable" as the Word of the Day, which means flexible. Song of the Day Yuki presented Songs of the Day “Where have all the good times gone” by Elton John, 1982. “Where…” is a song get back to the Good days. One of the reasons why he picked up this song was that he wanted to let us to recall one year ago that we had decided to start Ginza Club and to go forward to next step. Prepared Speech The first speaker was TM Yuki, Public Speaking #4 (Speaking Under Fire) , "A policy from the gonvernor of Tokyo". He admirably tackled a project how to stand his own ground and communicate in high stakes, high pressure situations. We were sure that his countercampaign was a great success. TM Eva was the second to speak. Her Tall Tales Speech, "Hug me tight" was a very humorous speech. She opened some tips on how to become richer in future. There was a complete reversal in the middle and ending of the speech. We enjoyed a lot. The last speaker was TM Yuko, Storytelling #5 (Bringing History to Life), "Sen no Rikyu - Death of a Tea Master". She talked about his later stage, and focused on his deep relationship with Hideyoshi, and why he was forced to commit a suicide. Table Topic Master TM Paul was the Table Topic Master. He took the floor and led a session of “movie” topics by TM Yossy, Tomoo, Masa, Harumi and Drian. Evaluation After the break, we heard from three evaluators– TM Tomoo for TM Yuki, TM Masa for TM Eva, and TM Tomomi for TM Yuko. 1st Workshop The first Workshop was TM Yossy. His project was “PR by name card". He wonderfully created Ginza Card No.1-7 and asked our opinions. Finally, we chose the best one! Well done Yossy! 2nd Workshop TM Drian was the second Workshop presenter. The topic was "Effective Leadership". He helped us recognize and develop our leadership skill by discussing some key elements , including qualities of leaders, values, and leadership style. Finally, our visiting General Evaluator, TM Harumi evaluated our club and the meeting. Yuko then announced the award, TM Eva for the Best Speaker, TM Drian for the Best Evaluator, and TM Masa for the Best Table Topic Speaker. Then, our President Drian gave us a brief of summary of all sessions and closed the meeting. Profoundly grateful to have been a part of the 1st anniversary meeting, through all the ups! Pleasure as always to be at Ginza Toastmasters Club. Next meeting The next meeting will take place at Harumi-Kumin Kaikan, on Sunday, 17th September, at 14:00. Yuko will do the TMOD.
