Ginza News Letters (29th July)

Introduction

On Saturday, 29th July, Ginza Toastmasters had our regular meeting at the Kyobashi-Plaza Kuminkaikan. We heard some exceptional impressive speech from the Club member and a very lovely speech from the special guest and enjoyed two outstanding Workshops with Club’s guests.

Roles and the Word of Day The meeting started with a welcome speech from the President Drian who introduced the special guest TM Shin. He introduced Toastmaster Yuko who then introduced Timekeeper Eva and announced the Word of Day, "Rinky-Dinky" with its meaning and example (dialogue).

1st Workshop The first Workshop was TM Yossy. He talked about the Roles of Toastmasters. Brainstorming with small group of people led to a more active discussion compared to a large group! We shared key elements of President, VPE, VPM and VPPR, such as "motivator, facilitator" for the coolest President, "hardwork" for VPE, "welcoming" for VPM and "creator" for VPPR.

Song of the Day Drian brought his "rinky-dinky" guitar and sang two songs of Dean Martin, italian singer. He took the audience on popular songs “Little Ole Wine Drinker Me" (Country) and "Everybody Loves Somebody" (Jazz). We learned that "Little…" is pretty self explanatory,its about a woman who left him, and he tries to "Forget Her," but can't so he goes and drowns his sorrows in wine.Great song!

Prepared Speech The first speaker was TM Eva, in her speech number 10 (CC) “First Timer”. A touching speech about her experience of Tohoku Earthquake in 2011 and self improvement transcended the spiritual nature of a leader art. Her powerful message "giving, giving and giving" knocked out with the audience! TM Shin was the second to speak. His speech number 4 (StoryTelling) entitled “Miracle” was a personal speech about his relationship with his classmate Kaori. His exchanging textbooks, and her remarks changed his shy characteristics. Very heartfelt and romantic story and well performed.

Evaluation After the break, we heard from the one evaluator – Drian for TM Shin 2nd Workshop Then Drian the Workshop Master, took the floor with the subject of change, provoking some entertaining and sincere reactions from the participants. He focused on "inspiration" and demonstrated how to create unexpected performance to reduce tensions when speaking. Finally, Toastmaster Yuko announced the award, TM Shin for the Best Speaker. Then, our President Drian gave us a brief of summary of all sessions and closed the meeting.

Next meeting The next meeting will take place at Akasaka, on Sunday, 20 August, at 14:00. Yuki will do the TMOD. It is our 1st anniversary meeting! Come over to practice your public speaking skills and enjoy the meeting!
