Ginza! September 23, 2018

Our last meeting was held on Sunday,23th September at Kyobashi- Plaza-Kuminkaikan, where we enjoyed two excellent speeches, a great table topics session and two special workshops from the regular member with the guests.

1. Introduction Yuko, President of the Club, welcomed everyone to the meeting then draw attention to an importance of having passion that helps us become better communicators. She then took it over to TMoD Gacky who invited Yossy to organize his workshop.

2. Workshops Yossy led the "Advertisement Strategy Workshop". Yossy, getting some hint from Yuki's recent "Value Proposition Workshop", opened up a conversation about what Ginza TM can provide to customers(potential members) products and skills. Some pointed out that Ginza TM offers "Whole" service, that is, community, growth, diversity and leader. There were also some comments about how to shine Ginza TM, i.e., having slogan (like Yokohama), principle (like Nakano) or schedule for keeping members' motivation. Another promotion advice was to establish clear purpose whether being friendly, pursing champion, cultivating table topic master or training tall tale skills.

Next to present was Paul, titled "Uncovering Your Message". He began with asking a rhetorical thought-provoking questions: what quality we expect from toastmasters speech (content, structure and delivery) and what quality we expect from boss. He then encouraged us to think about "Message(What messages would you deliver?), Probing question(What will happen if they cannot accept your idea?), Gain and Pains". Effectively handled practice session, where we discussed how we should deliver speech "Pathways", followed. There were comments that said Pathways are something "Try and Find" or "A lot of Work".

Just before the break Gacky offered a warm welcome to our guests, including Yuriko, Kitano, Mayo, Emi, Yasu, Kotoko, Mohanmed, Abdulrahman, Hamad and gave each of them an opportunity to introduce themselves and make a short speech.

3. Word of the Day After the short break, Gacky explained the running order of the meeting. Then, Eva declared the word of the day – “Pathways”.

4. Song of the Day Yuki proposed “September” by the American funk band Earth, Wind & Fire, 1978. It was an excellent, lots of fun, and classic song. The song 'September' was written about an epiphany. The very elusive subject of enlightenment. No matter our mood, this song made it better.

5. Prepared speeches Then, the first speaker was Masayo, with her Speeches by Management #1 titled “Pathways Tips”. She gave in the first session briefing Pathways so they understand information. Effectively handled question-and-answer session followed.

Next speaker Yuki impressed us with his beautiful visionary Communication #7 titled “When I was a protege”. He told us a captivating story about his violin mentor. His personal story was about how his violin mentor motivated him to keep going forward when he was stuck with violin lessons. He learned from him that the best mentors are the ones that can lead their mentees to making the right decisions, instead of telling them what to do. In this way, we can fill gaps in our skill.

After the speeches, General Evaluator Yuko invited two brilliant evaluators – Chris for Masayo, and Paul for Yossy. Finally, Yuko evaluated our meeting.

6. Awards Best Performance Yossy and Paul Best Evaluator Paul Best Speaker Yuki

7. Next meeting The next meeting will take place at Azabu Kumin Center in Roppongi, on Sunday, 28th October,

at 14:00. Come over to practice your public speaking!
